Benefits of Having Tinted Windows

Skin Protection

Protect your eyes and skin from the harmful effects of sun exposure while driving in your vehicle. Window film works as a sunscreen for you and your passengers by blocking up to 99% of ultraviolet radiation.

Decreases Heat

Drive more comfortably in San Diego with your car, van, truck, or SUV windows tinted. Window film adds a layer to help reject a portion of solar energy, reducing the amount of heat that enters your vehicle.

Reduces Fading

Since window film blocks out 99% of UV rays and reduces unwanted heat from entering your vehicle, in effect, this also reduces fading of your car’s interior. UV rays and heat are the primary causes of fading.

Cut Annoying Glare

Put less strain on your eyes from annoying glare. Window film does a great job of reducing the intensity of glare from direct sunlight, headlights, and reflections.

Increase Safety & Security

In the event of a car accident, window film can help hold shards of glass together, decreasing the chances of injury. Darker window films also make it harder for thieves to peek into your car for valuables.

Enhance Appearance

Ditch the plain windows to give your car, truck, SUV, or van a more modern and upgraded look. Choose from 5 of the most popular film shades below.

In California, 70% VLT or lighter is allowed on the windows of your front doors. For the windows on your rear doors and rear window, you can go as light or as dark as you want. Window tint regulation varies from state to state. For a detailed look at the state window tinting laws, visit International Window Film Association.

After getting your car windows tinted, we recommend:

  • Not to roll down your windows for 2-3 days. This allows the film to adhere to the glass really well.
  • Not to clean your windows from the inside for 30 days. You can still give your car a wash from the outside since the film is applied on the inside of your vehicle.
  • Not to use the rear defroster for 30 days.
  • Not to use cleaning products that contain ammonia on your windows from the inside. Ammonia may cause discoloration.

Your window tint may look streaky after installation—this is completely normal. Trapped moisture will dry out from 2 weeks to 2 months. Direct sunlight will help speed up dry-out time.

Felt is recommended for vehicles with tight door panels. When felt product is not installed, then the warranty is void when the tight door panel causes scratch marks.

Newer vehicles have a series of dots either along the outer edge of the back window or a very concentrated area at the top of the back window. These dots make the adhesion of film to glass very difficult, but we do have a technique that allows a better contact between both. Although water may still remain in the dot matrix area, the amount of water is reduced significantly.

During installation, your dealer will remove as much of the mounting solution possible, although a small amount will remain. Trapped installation moisture can cause small water bubbles and/or a slightly cloudy look. This is normal and should be expected. Do not attempt to pierce a water bubble during the dry-out time. Water bubbles and the cloudy look will dissipate. Attempting to pierce a water bubble in an effort to drain moisture will damage your film and is not covered by the warranty.

Climate Conditions and Dry-Out Time

If slow drying occurs, do not become alarmed. The trapped moisture will dry-out completely. Certain climate conditions can extend the dry-out time for as long as 30 to 60 days after installation. Cold and rainy weather conditions can lengthen the dry-out time while warm weather and direct sun light exposure will shorten it. The dry-out time for our high performance metalized automobile films will always take longer than conventional non-reflective films.

Do not clean the film until 30 days after installation. This will help ensure proper curing of the special mounting adhesive to the glass.

Cleaning Materials

A soft cloth or a clean synthetic sponge is recommended for washing the film followed by another clean soft cloth or soft rubber squeegee for drying. To avoid scratching the film. Some brands of paper towels are coarse enough to put fine scratches on the film’s protective hard coat finish. While these scratches may be too thin to be seen at the beginning, they can damage the polished look of the film over time. Clean gently.

Though the installers are meticulous in applying the film without visible bubbles, some small bubbles may remain until the windows are completely dry. A few small particles or points might be visible from outside. These usually very tiny points are inherent in the adhesive system.

Although the film may have a scratch resistant coating, brushes or cleaning agents containing abrasive material should be avoided. In some rare instances window seals may cause fine scratching on roll up windows.

All too many times I get asked, “how long is the warranty and will the window film look the same 5 to 7 years later from the day it was put on?” Now to answer that question I like to ask this simple question in return. If you were to go and buy a brand new car directly off the show room floor, will it look like the day you drove it off the show room floor 5 to 10 years later? He or she usually laughs and says “well I guess that depends on how well I take care of it,” which is exactly how I respond to their initial question regarding the product life.

Factors that Influence How Long Window Film Will Last:

  • Parked inside when at home, or parked outside exposed to the weather.
  • Parked inside at work, or parked outside exposed to weather.
  • How the car is washed, carefully by hand, tunnel brush wash, chemical wash (touchless) or something in-between?
  • Type of wash mitt used to wash the vehicle.
  • Type of soap used to wash the vehicle.
  • Type of film installed – coated or non-coated films.
  • Geographical climate – is the vehicle subject to a lot of sun exposure.
  • Type of products used to care for the film. We recommend an application of high quality purpose-made window film cleaner directly after installation and at frequent intervals will help retain the luster and performance of the film.

Example:

If you took three black painted fenders and set fender A outside for a period of one year, waxing it daily; fender B outside never touching it; and fender C inside an enclosed dark room, will all three look different after one year? Fender C will look like the day you placed it in the room, fender B will look slightly different from fender A because of the damaging elements of outdoor exposure, and fender B will more than likely show some harsher damage from the same elements of outdoor exposure. Both the paint and paint protection films expand in the hot sun and can absorb dirt and moisture which makes it important to keep both surfaces clean when possible.
