Feather vs. Plastic Shuttlecocks
Badminton athletes typically use feather shuttlecocks — aka birdies — to play competitively. While they can be made of duck or goose feathers, goose feathers have thicker bristles, making them more durable and have better flight quality.
Plastic shuttlecocks, on the other hand, are mainly for recreational use. They’re made of nylon — a synthetic material — making them more affordable and durable than feather shuttles.
